Motor Salvage
Local Motor Salvage Operators are now required to Register with the Council. This is in order to comply with the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2000 and the Motor Salvage Operators Regulations 2002, which are designed to reduce motor vehicle crime.
Part of the Registration process involves an approach to Lincolnshire Police to determine if an applicant has been convicted of certain motor vehicle related offences. This information is used by the Council to decide if the applicant is a fit and proper person to carry on the business as a Motor Salvage Operator.
Enforcement of the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2000 is a Police function, hence the Council has no other involvement than to keep the Register. Registration Entries last for three years and the Council invites renewal by post in good time before expiry.
