Digital Switchover
Digital television – are you ready for the switch?
Television is changing. In 2011 TV services in Lincolnshire will go digital. The old analogue TV signal will be switched off for good, making way for extra channels and services that everyone will be able to receive free through an aerial.
The process, called digital switchover, will allow every viewer to enjoy the many benefits of digital TV – like specialist channels devoted to news, documentaries and drama, and easier recording at the push of a button. East Lindsey television viewers receive their TV signal from the Belmont transmitter group which switches to digital from August 3, 2011.
Everyone needs to make sure they’re ready for the switchover – even if, like most people, you already have digital on your main TV. You’ll know you need to convert if you currently receive no more than six channels on any of your TV sets. For people watching via an aerial, a simple Freeview, or set top, box is all you need, with prices starting from around £25. And remember, all TVs can be converted – even black and white sets and those without Scart connections. And most people will not need a new aerial – if you get a good picture now, you should be fine after switchover. If you choose to buy a new TV with digital tuner built in, make sure you look for the Digital tick.
Viewers watching satellite or cable television need take no further action – but make sure all your sets are digital ready.
