Youth Engagement
Youth Assembly
Working with young people is a key element of community engagement at East Lindsey District Council. We engage with young people through a variety of methods that include the Youth Assembly and 11 Million Takeover Day.
The Youth Assemblies take place in March and October and are jointly organised by the District and County Council. Every secondary school and youth council within the District are invited to attend. The students work in groups discussing important issues that affect their lives. The views expressed by the young people progress to the Local Children’s Partnership for action, and feedback is provided before and during the next Youth Assembly.
The fifth assembly will take place on Wednesday 17th March 2010.
11 Million Takeover Day
11 Million is an organisation led by the Children’s Commissioner for England. It’s called 11 Million because there are roughly 11 million children and young people in England.
11 Million is an organisation led by the Children’s Commissioner for England. It’s called 11 Million because there are roughly 11 million children and young people in England.
The vision of 11 Million is that children and young people will:
- Be actively involved in shaping all decisions that affect their lives
- Be supported to achieve their full potential through the provision of appropriate services
- Live in homes and communities where their rights are respected and they are loved, happy and enjoy life
East Lindsey District Council will support young people to takeover the running of Council departments. The event takes place in November although a date has yet to be confirmed.
