Carers and residents are invited to a special community date in Mablethorpe

Carers and residents living in and around Mablethorpe are being invited to a special community day on Saturday, June 19, 2010 on Stanley Avenue, Mablethorpe.

Agencies along Stanley will be providing free activities and information about their support services from 10am until 3pm.

There are approx 6 Million Carers in the UK that’s 1 in 8 of the population. According to the 2001 census there are 66,000 carers in Lincolnshire – that is 10% of the population of which approximately 1700 young carers.

Through this fun day the recognition and profile of this hidden army will be raised whilst celebrating the incredible contribution that Carers make.

Many Carers do not know of the support available and agencies are urging them to come along and enjoy the activities and find out more about the support available in Lincolnshire.

Neighbourhood Management’s Health Sub Group Committee is organising the event, Janet Goult: “We are inviting Carers to this event along with those they care for. We know there are lots of people in our community who are giving up much of their lives to look after loved ones. This event is about bringing them together to share advice and experiences and at the same time have lots of fun.”

Activities will include arts and crafts, Nintendo Wii games, New Age Kurling, Ballroom and Sequence dancing, hand and Indian head massages, an introduction to Outdoor Bowls, One Arm Bandit, Blast from the Past, Tennyson Tappers, karaoke, karate, a keep fit class with the Pink Ladies, face painting, a Food 4 Life demonstration and Punch and Judy shows.
