A ONE-STOP-SHOP for council and library services has officially opened in Tattershall, as East Lindsey District Council and its partners continue to work together to improve access to services across the district.
Tattershall and Coningsby Community Access Point on Butts Lane, represents an investment of £60,000 by East Lindsey District Council and is a similar facility to the one due to open at Horncastle Library from October.
A similar project in Mablethorpe saw the development of a Community Access Point on Stanley Avenue and since its opening in January 2006 has continued to go from strength to strength.
Previously, those living in the Tattershall and Coningsby area had an eight-mile journey to Horncastle Customer Service Centre to access information on District Council services, but now they have a dedicated team of customer service advisers available six days a week in their community. Tattershall Parish Council’s office is also in the Customer Access Point.
Councillor, Stan Avison, Vice- Chairman of the District Council and Ward Councillor, endorsed the project: "The Community Access Point will make it a lot easier for elderly people in the area to get the information they need from the Council. Lots of people struggle to get to Horncastle because they don’t have cars so this will be a great benefit to the community," he explained.
Ward Councillor, Ray Curtis, is also delighted: "I have been looking forward to the opening of this new facility. It is an excellent example of partnership working to provide a much-needed facility that can benefit everyone in the area. With today’s ever-rising costs of travel it is good to have a more local customer access point to serve the residents of Coningsby, Tattershall and the surrounding area."
Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, said: "It is important that we continue to improve our customer service network and make it as easy as possible for people to access our services. We have made a commitment to put residents at the heart of all we do, and this is another example of improving service provision for the benefit of our communities."
The Community Access Point's opening hours are:
Monday – 10am until 4pm
Tuesday – 10am until 7pm
Wednesday – 10am until 1pm
Thursday – 10am until 1pm
Friday – 10am until 5pm
