East Lindsey District Council achieves development charter status

EAST Lindsey District Council has been awarded the Development Charter by Local Government East Midlands (LGEM) as an acknowledgement of the ongoing commitment made by Councillors to learning and development.

The Council is only the third in the East Midlands to achieve the Development Charter Award, which recognises the efforts of Councillors in providing strong leadership in the community and high quality services.

On the day of the assessment, Councillors were involved in a number of different interviews to highlight the work they have been involved in relating to their own learning and development. Councillors were also questioned about what processes the Council had put in place to help meet their individual needs.

Councillor Doreen Stephenson, Leader of the Council, is delighted: "Councillors have made a considerable effort to access the training, learning and development opportunities to enhance their knowledge of local government affairs. This Charter is a credit to Councillors and Officers who have now set some of the highest professional standards in the East Midlands," she said.

A formal presentation of the award will be made later in the year.
