Eco-town bid through to round two

East Lindsey District Council's response to the Government's Eco-towns announcement. The Council's application has been short listed:

Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, is delighted at the announcement of down selection in the bid to establish an eco-Town in the District: "We have been down selected from 60 to 15 contenders based on a strong bid put together by our in-house planning team. This is a real achievement," she said.

The selection process will be reduced to 10 final contenders later in the year after a round of consultation with community groups and other stakeholders.

Commenting on this Simon Machen, Head of Planning said: "We have done well to get this far. We now need to pull our efforts together and work with the community to create a winning proposal for the next round. I am confident that we can lead this exciting and innovative project for the future."
