Weekly sessions provide support to the homeless

PEOPLE who are homeless or who feel they are in a housing crisis can get free support at the Holy Trinity Centre in Eastgate, Louth, each Wednesday between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

The drop in sessions organised by East Lindsey District Council give homeless people the opportunity to discuss their situation informally with a Housing Support Worker.

"There is also an opportunity to meet with people who have previously received help from the Housing Support Team, over a cup of coffee," said Housing Support Worker, Fran Mitchell. "Homelessness can be caused by a lack of affordable housing or people’s difficulties in making and keeping a home, which can lead to misery and bad health. Feelings of isolation, depression and low self-esteem can increase the chances of domestic violence, drug or alcohol abuse, child behaviour problems, offending and debt.

"This support service offers advice about not only housing support, but also community safety, energy efficiency and help filling forms in.
"Some help at the right time can make a difference and these sessions enable us to provide much needed support to vulnerable people" Fran explained.

To find our more about the sessions contact the Council’s Housing Support Team on 08446 601111.
