Play equipment for the community

EAST Lindsey District Councillor Mark Anderson has launched a new scheme in his Skegness Ward to encourage more youngsters to become fit and active.

Councillor Anderson, who represents the St Clements Ward, has spent £2,000 of his community grant funding on a selection of play equipment that will be available for hire by local organisations, clubs and schools in the area.

To launch the scheme, a free community events has been organised between 10am and 3pm on August 14 at Skegness Junior School. As well as the play equipment, the District Council’s interactive Funk Bus will also be at the school on both dates for those aged between 11 and 19.

Councillor Anderson, explained: "As a local councillor I get lots of compliants of antisocial behaviour and the need for young people to be given more to do in the area. Children need to play because its part of growing up. As a Council we need to continue to organise active play, which will encourage healthy active young people. This idea came forward from the young people of my ward and I’m pleased to have been able to help in partnership with the school and District Council’s Sports Development Team."
