A SPECIAL sandbag collection is being organised in Horncastle on April 15, 2008 for residents to dispose of sandbags they no longer want.

Portfolio Holder for Amenities, Councillor Dick Edginton, said: "Although we are putting on this special collection for sandbags that people no longer want, some residents may wish to keep them in their shed so they are prepared should flooding occur again. The type of flooding we’ve experienced recently is rare and hopefully it won’t be repeated but it’s best to be prepared and empty sandbags are always available from our customer service centres."
