ON April 6, 2008, East Lindsey District Council will become solely responsible for stray dogs, taking over the responsibility from Lincolnshire Police.

From this date, anyone who needs to report a stray dog should contact the District Council’s Customer Service Centre on 08446 60111.

The Council has also appointed two kennels as animal reception centres, where strays can be taken outside normal office hours, these are:

• Walkers Kennels in Grainthorpe (01472 388551). Walkers will accept dogs 24hours a day following notification by telephone.
• Furze Pet Hotel in Beesby near Alford (01507 450764) will accept dogs between 8am and 8pm.

The Council has recently launched a service through it’s website, www.e-lindsey.gov.uk, to reunite owners with their stray dogs.
