Wolds Words gets a big thumbs up

THE 2007 Wolds Words festival of Reading, Writing and Performance, has been given a big thumbs up in a recent consultation exercise carried out by East Lindsey District Council with satisfaction levels remaining high.

With this year’s festival fast approaching, the District Council was keen to establish what those attending last year’s festival liked and disliked.

The majority of respondents said the 2007 programme was full, varied and interesting and that the events on offer generally met with their expectations.  Over half of those responding indicated that they would like to have attended more of the events on offer if time had permitted.

In addition, the expansion of the festival into other areas of the district would be welcomed, providing the main focus still remained on Louth.

Respondents did however suggest that the festival should do more to attract young people aged 13 – 19 and the Advisory Group will be taking this on board during the planning of the 2008 event.

Overall, respondents were very positive and showed that the Wolds Words festival is a well-received event with a great deal of support throughout the district.

This years’ festival of reading, writing & performance runs from October 23 and 26.

Many activities are already in the pipeline, with comedy, multimedia, storytelling and ‘Try Your Hand At…’ short story writing, poetry and book-making sessions on the agenda.  Local dialect group Far Welter’d plan an even bigger and better event in response to popular demand and Open Mic sessions will offer performance opportunities for poets and storytellers to strut their stuff.
