Bulky and Electrical Items
The Council offers a chargeable kerbside bulky item collection service. A charge of £15:00 will be made to collect up to four items which must be paid for at the time you make the order.
This is not a house or garden clearance service and we will only collect household items that are either too big or too heavy to be placed inside your wheelie bin. We will not collect fixtures and fittings.
Depending on the type and size of items to be collected, they will be collected by either a refuse truck or a box vehicle. Please click on ‘The Bulky Items List’ under ‘Documents’ for a list of items in each category.
Items to be collected by a refuse truck, will be collected on the householders next residual bin collection day, providing the order is made by 12:30 pm, the day before the collection day. These items must be presented by 6.30am at the kerbside on the morning of collection.
All other items will be collected by a box vehicle within 3 working days of the order being made and must be presented at the kerbside when the order is made.
If items are not presented on time, we will not make return visits or refund monies already paid.
Bulky items can also be disposed of free of charge at your local household waste recycling centre or through charitable organisations that provide a ‘furniture re-use collection service’ and will collect furniture, bedding and curtains. Details of these services can be found using the “Furniture re-use” link to the right.
Alternatively you may want to use a private company to dispose of your bulky items, but please make sure they are Registered Waste Carriers with a current Waste Carriers License.
