Waste Collection

Refuse and recycling service
You will receive a fortnightly collection of your recycling and refuse waste. For the collection of your grey bin (or grey sacks) and your black bin (or purple sacks) to take place please follow these rules:

  • Present bins or sacks at the edge of your property by 6:30am on your collection day
  • Your bin will not be emptied if you have put the wrong materials in it
  • Any waste presented at the side of your bin will not be collected
  • Ensure that your bin lid is closed as we will not remove additional waste that forces the bin open, otherwise your bin will not be emptied

If your bins are missed, and it is not for any of the reasons as above, please call customer services.

Green waste collections
You will receive a fortnightly collection of green waste from Easter to November. You can check when your collections are due by looking on your collection calendar on the Waste collection postcode finder.

Missed Collections
Crews make a note of any wheeled bins not emptied because they have not been presented correctly. Return visits will not be made if your bins or sacks have not been presented correctly. Residents will either have to wait for their next scheduled collection or make their own arrangements to empty the bins.or dispose of the sacks.

If a bin has been genuinely missed by the crew, this must be reported by the resident within 24 hours and we will return within 3 working days to empty the bin or collect the sacks. Bins or sacks not reported immediately will not be emptied until the next scheduled collection.

If collections are missed due to bad weather, every effort will be made to empty the bins within one week of their scheduled collection day. If garden waste is missed due to the weather, the bin will not be emptied until the next scheduled collection.

Blocked Access
If we are unable to access a road due to road works, we will call to empty the bins when the road works have been completed.

If access is blocked by a vehicle, we will try to call back on the same day. If access is still not possible, we may not be able to call again until the next scheduled collection.

Christmas and New Year Collections
Some properties may have different collection days over the Christmas and New Year period. The details can be found on the ‘Waste Collection Post Code Finder’. If bins or sacks are not presented on the revised days, residents will either have to wait for their next scheduled collection or make their own arrangements to empty the bins.

Additional/ Larger Wheeled Bins
Larger bins are available if you produce healthcare waste, have two or more children in nappies under the age of 4, or have more than 5 people in your family. If your property cannot accommodate a wheeled bin please contact us to discuss alternative methods of collection.
