We operate pay and display car parks at various locations throughout the District. Anyone using our parking facilities must park in accordance with the current Parking Order.

General Information

Please check the Regulations Boards within each car park for the most up to date information on charging periods, the cost of parking and regulations in force, or for detailed parking information and restrictions please read our current pdf icon Parking Order 2014 [5Mb], pdf icon Amendment 1 Order 2015 [1Mb] and pdf icon Parking Order - Amendment No 2 2016 [902kb].

We operate two types of pay and display car park - Amenity Car Parks and Foreshore Car Parks. The main difference is their location, amenity being situated within a town/village and foreshore being situated along the coast. All car parks are open 24 hours, and chargeable seven days a week from 8am to 6pm.  All fees and charges are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Motorcycles are permitted to park for free in a motorcycle bay where provided.  If no bay is available, please use a standard parking bay.

Oversized vehicles - Are welcomed in our car parks, where space permits.  Please ensure that you purchase a machine ticket for each full or part space occupied.

Overnight occupation of vehicles is not permitted.

Blue Badge Holder Parking - Normal charges and expiry times apply to all blue badge holders parking in a standard pay & display bay.  When parking in a designated disabled bay you must purchase a pay & display machine ticket which will permit you to park for double the length of time that you have purchased.  The period of free parking will be extended from the expiry time displayed on your ticket.  This may only be used on the day of purchase and not extended to the following day.  A valid blue badge and machine ticket must be displayed at all times.

Annual Parking Report

The council's pdf icon Annual Parking Report 2016-2017 [75kb] provides an overview of the car parking and enforcement services during the financial year 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016. Under the Traffic Management Act 2004 (TMA) we are required to publish our annual parking accounts at the end of the financial year.

This annual report provides financial and statistical information on parking income and expenditure and Penalty Charge Notices (PCN's).

Why are we publishing this information?

Publication of this information is in accordance with the Department for Transport's "Operational Guidance to Local Authorities: Parking Policy and Enforcement" under the Traffic Management Act 2004.

Greater transparency is essential to ensure that the public can see how local authorities are spending funds from both parking charges and enforcement activity. Annual reports are a key part of this.
