Charitable Collections - Street and House to House Collection Permits

HOW TO APPLY FOR STREET AND HOUSE TO HOUSE COLLECTION PERMITS

Charitable Street Collections

You will require a Street Collection Permit to carry out a charitable street collection within the East Lindsey District Council area. The application should be made in writing by letter, e-mail, or fax, including as much relevant information as possible and any leaflets on the benefiting charity or organisation.

Please allow at least 28 days for the application to be considered as consultations are undertaken with the Town or Parish Council in whose area you wish to collect. It should be noted that East Lindsey District Council only allow one collection per town at anytime during the year.

Street collections are a very popular way of raising monies for charitable and benevolent purposes. For this reason you advised to apply in the October/November/December for the ensuing year. The local Town or Parish Council will then be consulted in early January.

Once the collection has taken place a return form must be completed and returned to the Council.

To collect on private property i.e. supermarkets, shops, garden centres etc, you do not need a Street Collection Permit only the permission of the owner.

Charitable House to House Collections

A collection, which is conducted from door to door, requires a House to House Collection Permit. Application forms are available from East Lindsey District Council and when returned should be accompanied by as much information and leaflets on the benefiting charity as possible.

Please allow at least 28 days for the request to be considered as the Town or Parish Council in whose area you wish to carry out the collection will need to be consulted.

Once the collection has taken place a return form must be completed and returned to the Council.

If the Charity holds a Home Office Certificate of Exemption then you only need to notify the East Lindsey District Council of your intentions.
