Council Tax

Introduction to Council Tax

Council Tax is set by local councils to help pay for local services. It is set by East Lindsey District Council and is calculated based on how much it and other public bodies in the area spend, and how much money is received from elsewhere.

East Lindsey District Council is responsible for the billing and collection of Council Tax, in accordance with spending requirements of:

  • Lincolnshire County Council (74.9%)
  • Lincolnshire Police Authority (17.3%)
  • East Lindsey District Council (7.8%)

In addition, Parish and Town Councils may also have spending requirements, which are paid for through Council Tax.

The amount paid in Council Tax is dependent on the valuation band on which each property is based. There are circumstances in which a bill may be reduced, including the following:

What is your Council Tax Band and Charge?
