What does this mean

You may be providing the Council with information for more than one purpose.

For example, you may be moving house and need to notify not only the Electoral Registration Officer but also the Council Tax department. We can do this by sharing information within but we take great care if someone from another organisation asks for your information.

However sometimes the law permits us to give other people information. For example, if the Police are investigating a crime, they may contact us. If we are satisfied that they need the information that they request then we will provide it.

If we are asked for personal information we check that the enquirer is both entitled to, and actually needs the information before we provide it.
