There are many ways of saving energy in your home, some are no cost or low cost that just require slight behavioural changes in your daily routine. Others require investment, such as improving the amount of insulation in your home, heating systems and heating controls.
Here are our top tips to save energy:
- Insulate your loft with thick fibreglass or similar insulation
- Insulate your cavity walls
- Install low energy light bulbs
- Avoid drying clothes on radiators
- Turn TV’s and appliances off standby when not in use
- When boiling the kettle for a drink, use only the amount of water you need
- When looking for a new fridge or washing machine look for the energy saving recommended logo
- Make sure your hot water tank is equipped with a thick lagging jacket
