Receipt of Food Complaints
Complaints made about food premises of food stuffs can result in this authority taking formal proceedings against the business if subsequently found to be at fault. It is vital that accurate information is recorded and that the details are passed through promptly and checks made to ensure they have been received.

Complaints and similar service requests can be made and should be accepted from any one. If the complainant wishes to remain anonymous they should be advised that response may not be as rapid or as thorough.
The details from the complainant should be recorded and passed through for action in the normal way.
This service is available:

Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays)
9.00am to 5pm 

The service is available at all locations within ELDC

This service can be applied for in the following ways:

  • By visiting Council offices
  • By visiting a Customer Service Centre
  • By calling the Council
  • By using the Internet

  • Contact the Customer Services Team to make complaint
  • Obtain details address from customer
  • Enter on to system
  • Pass through to food safety
  • Check that complaint has been received by the appropriate person

It is not possible to give a time within which all food complaints will be dealt with.  This is due to the often complex nature of their investigation.  However a first response will be made within five days.
