Is your Tree within a Conservation Area?
Our district has 17 Conservation Areas. If you live in one of these settlements and are planning to undertake works to a tree then it is important to find out whether the tree is within a Conservation Area.
You can also check to see if the tree is within a Conservation Area by contacting us either by email: trees@e-lindsey.gov.uk, or by using the Tree Enquiry form.
If you would like to find out more general information about Trees within Conservation Areas, additional information can be found in the Trees Within Conservation Areas Frequently Asked Questions Page.
Carrying Out Works to Trees within a Conservation Area
If a tree located within a Conservation Area is already the subject of a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) then the TPO procedures are followed. If no TPO exists, then prior to carrying out any works to the tree, 6 weeks notice must be given in writing to the Local Planning Authority. This applies to surgery works or felling of any tree with a trunk of over 75 mm in diameter measured 1.5 metres above ground level.
Giving Notice
If you plan to carry out works to a tree/trees that you already know are within a Conservation Area then it is still important to get in touch with us prior to submitting a notification to do the work. We will need to visit the site to discuss the work prior to a formal notification being submitted. If you have already discussed the proposed work with us then you can give notice using the form “giving notice of intended works to trees within a Conservation Area”.
Please note: a notice will form part of the public register and become accessible via this website, and in certain circumstances may be copied to neighbours and other third parties.
Register of Notices
Local Planning Authorities are required to maintain a register of 'Notices of intended works to trees in Conservation Areas', including the LPA's decision, and to make this register available to the public.
