Feedback from the 2007/8 Customer Survey

You said:-

Why do we have to pay for the service ?

Our Response:-

The service was made chargeable as a result of the rising cost of baits and poisons, this has enabled East Lindsey to continue providing this service where many Lincolnshire authorities no longer offer an in house service at all. The decision as therefore taken to charge as oposed to loose the service altogether.

We do strive to ensure that the cost of the service is competitive. For example if you were to buy enough poison to bait the average rodent treatment this would cost in excess of the charge for our trained operatives to come out and survey and bait the property. If you were to employ a private pest control firm, it could cost you in excess of £150.

You Said:

Why does my neighbour get away with not treating the problem it is coming from their house?

Our Response:

We cannot force people to have a pest control treatment from East Lindsey. Where we establish that there is a problem coming from another property, we do try and ensure that they are written to by our Statutory Nuisance Enforcement Unit in the Environment Team in order to resolve the problem.

You Said:

Can you provide the service at weekends?

At the present time we do not have the level of staff which would be needed to provide this service at weekends. It is something that we will bear in mind for the future if there is the demand for the service.

Summary:

In general it was clear that most people who responded were very happy with the service. Thankyou to all of the customers who too the time to complete the survey. We will strive to continue to provide an efficient service which represents good value for money within the resources we currently have.
