House Street Naming and Numbering

House, street naming and numbering

Have you moved recently ? Or have you changed the house name ? If you have then you could be having problems with delivery companies, credit, telephone or other services that your are trying to receive.

What can you do to overcome these problems ? What have you tried to do so far ?

If you have just moved into a new house does it have

  • A street number or
  • A house name

If you have a street number it may not have been made " live " on the postcode database. In this case we will contact the Post coding Centre and arrange for the number to be "released". If you have a house name, was it agreed by the Street Naming and Numbering Officer at the District Council ?

In this case send details of the house name to the Council's Street Naming Officer.

Download the House Naming Form here.

  • We will then check the name against our database, to make sure no one else has registered the name in the area.
  • We will then confirm in writing the acceptance of the name.
  • We will also send you a list of Statutory Bodies who may need to be notified.

If you have changed the name of the house, we will need details of the old name as well.
