The applications on the agenda (which is published 5 days in advance) are presented to the Members of the Committee who may discuss the application and will then make a decision with guidance from the Head of Development Control. The Council operate two Development Control Committees, DC (North) and DC (South) which both meet once a month, usually on Thursdays.
Will my application go to Committee?
The Director of Planning and Regeneration deals with about 90 % of applications, including the vast majority of householder applications, under powers delegated to him by the Council. More controversial applications where there significant objections and when officers recommend approval contrary to the Development Plan or where a Member of the District Council has specifically asked for a Committee decision go before a committee of elected Councillors for decision at a public meeting.
