The Planning Policy team is responsible for the preparation of the East Lindsey Local Plan. The Local Plan sets out planning policies and land allocations used to determine planning applications in East Lindsey. It aims to direct development to where it can be of greatest benefit to the widest number of people in the long term, and to control development so that it does not harm the environment or harm people’s quality of life.
The Local Plan format is currently being replaced by the Local Development Framework (LDF) and work on the suite of documents which comprise the LDF is currently underway.

The current East Lindsey Local Plan was adopted in 1995 and formally amended in 1999. It comprises of Part 1 (Policies and Supporting Text) and Part 2 (Inset Maps and Proposals Map).
The Planning & Compensation Act 2004 requires the Council to review the Policies of the Local Plan to assess their 'fitness for purpose' pending the preparation of the Local Development Framework. The direction issued by the SoS sets out those policies the Council is permitted to use pending preparation of its LDF. The attached copy of the Local Plan has been amended to indicate those policies that have been saved and those deleted.
