A-Z of Council Services:

Infectious Diseases
Infectious Diseases Service Guide

The service is primarily for the benefit of all persons who are residents of ELDC. Allegations of suspected food poisoning and similar service requests can be made and should be accepted from any one. If the complainant wishes to remain anonymous they should be advised that response may not be as rapid or as thorough.

Members of the public often make contact, initially usually by telephone to bring to our attention their suspicions that they have suffered illness as a result of eating food purchased locally. The details from the complainant should be recorded and passed through to the Food Safety Manager for action as soon as possible as a rapid response may be necessary.

The main illness that are likely to be reported include;

  • Suspect food poisoning
  • Salmonella
  • Campylobacter
  • Viral food poisoning

This service is available:
