Decent Homes Grant
 

To increase the amount of decent homes being lived in by vulnerable households, grants are available to support schemes of work up to £5,000.

A Grant can be offered for:

  • Bringing the property up to the minimum standard for housing (using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System)
  • Providing a reasonable degree of thermal comfort.
  • Bringing the property into a reasonable state of repair
  • Providing modern facilities (where current facilities present a risk to the health and safety).

You will be eligible if you are:

  • The property owner or tenant, and
  • You are a vulnerable household at date of application.

Vulnerable household are defined as those on:

  • Income support
  • Housing benefit
  • Council tax benefit
  • Income based job seekers allowance
  • Child tax credit (with income of less than £15,460)
  • Working tax credit (with income of less than £15,460)
  • Attendance allowance
  • Disability living allowance
  • Industrial injuries
  • War disablement pension
  • Pension credit (Guaranteed/Savings)
