Funk-Bus

Rural Lincolnshire gets Funky

For teenagers living in the isolated rural communities that make up East Lindsey on the coast of Lincolnshire, life can be hard. Miles away from the nearest Youth Centre, local resources can be limited to a couple of streetlights and sometimes a park bench.

Inspired by this challenge, a state-of-the-art new mobile youth vehicle ‘Funk-Bus’ has been created with input from young people working alongside East Lindsey District Council.

The Funk-Bus will tour 23 rural and isolated communities in the area, delivering a range of ‘play’ experiences for 11 to 19 year olds. Teenagers from across East Lindsey shared their views on what they wanted to see on the finished bus and, as a result, the latest computers and interactive equipment are being installed, along with more traditional games and creative resources.

The Funk-Bus will contain the following equipment;

  • Play Station 3
  • Xbox 360
  • Nintendo Wii
  • Wii Fit Dance mat
  • 32 inch plasma TV
  • Two 26 inch plasma TVs
  • Free view TV
  • PC with internet access
  • Music jukebox
  • Arts corner
