Beach Safety

We don’t want to stop you having fun at the seaside. Safety is important and we would ask that you always obey the signs and flag signals.

Remember that you should not enter the water unless a red and yellow flag is flying, which shows that a lifeguard is on patrol. Do not take inflatables into the sea.

Find the red and yellow flags and swim between them
Look at the safety signs
Ask a lifeguard for advice
Get a friend to swim with you
Stick your hand in the air and shout for help if in difficulty

If you see someone in difficult, tell a lifeguard or you can also use nearest telephone, Dial 999 or 112 and ask for the COASTGUARD

Do not enter the water to rescue anyone as you could put your life at risk.
