Beach Safety flags and signs

You will see lots of different flags and signs when you visit our beaches.

Make sure you look out for them, and follow the rules. This way, we can make sure that you and your family have fun and stay safe too.

Flags

Our flags will be flying when a lifeguard is on duty. Take a look at the attached pictures. They tell you what these flags mean.

Always obey the flag signals.

When no lifeguards are on duty, you should always read the signs before entering the water.

Signs

Familiarise yourself with the signs on our beaches by looking at the pictures attached.

- Check and obey the safety signs along the coast.
- Be aware where your nearest emergency telephone is
- Know where to find lifesaving equipment if going on to an unpatrolled beach.
