1500 people join the Meridian Leisure Centre, Louth
Memberships for the Meridian Leisure Centre have now risen past the 1500 mark.
East Lindsey District Council’s Business Plan for memberships was based on 1200 members but in the last few days the number of members has hit 1528.
"We knew there was a need for a first class leisure facility in Louth and the continuing increase in membership sales reinforces this," said Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Councillor Adam Grist. "The number of people that have joined so far exceeds our expectations and I am pleased more people in this area are taking part in physical activity to improve their health and wellbeing as a result of the Meridian Leisure Centre being opened. The high number of members also means we’re bringing in additional income to support the running costs, which is more good news."
The Meridian Leisure boats a 25m eight lane swimming pool with floating floor and children’s pool, sauna and steam room, 80 station fitness suite, sports hall, dance studios, multipurpose rooms, crèche and café.
"I am pleased that in recent weeks we’ve also been able to respond to requests for different types of fitness equipment," said Cllr Grist. "Whilst the Fitness Suite has an extensive range of equipment already, customers have asked for more Swiss Balls of different sizes and more medicine balls with different weights. These are now in place and we’re also putting in some more benches for those who want to lift weights."
Membership, which includes access to all the facilities at the Leisure Centre, with the exception of the crèche, is available for £32.50 per month.
