Fun in the sun as Beach Rangers prepare to take to the beaches on the East Coast
THERE will be fun in the sun on the Lincolnshire Coast this summer, as East Lindsey District Council announces another important addition to the summer programme – Beach Rangers!
In a similar fashion to Butlins’ Redcoats, Beach Rangers will be on the Blue Flag Award winning beaches in Mablethorpe and Skegness from July 19 until September 3.
Each day between 10am and 3pm they will deliver a range of exciting activities for families and friends to enjoy free of charge.
Last week the District Council announced that Skegness would be hosting Volleyball England’s National Beach Tour on August 14 and 15 and a National Beach Rugby Festival on August 21. Further up the coast in Mablethorpe there will be a Beach Cricket Tournament between July 30 and August 1 and Beach Rounders Tournament on August 7.
Joe Irving, is at Lincoln College studying Sports Development Coaching and Fitness. He will be a Beach Ranger during his summer holiday: "Being a Beach Rangers is a fun job but it’s also a very important one. We’ve been employed to make sure people have a great time when they come to our coast. I am really pleased to have been able to find work during my summer break. I can’t wait to get onto the beach, meet lots of people and put smiles on faces."
As well as providing great activities for everyone, the District Council hopes that it will encourage more people to come to the resorts during the summer months.
"This is one part of a much bigger visitor offer," said Leader of the Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson. "We need to ensure we give people visiting our coast a really good time so they want to come back. Beach Rangers along with our summer beach sports programme, which will be announced soon, will make our coast a hive of activity this summer and I’m sure everyone visiting will have a great time. We need to ensure we attract as many people as possible to support local businesses and hoteliers at this important time of the year."
