EAST Lindsey District Council is ‘exploring’ costs for refurbishing the Inn on the Park in Skegness.
The Inn, which is situated in Tower Gardens, was originally built in 1879. It has been vacant since previous tenants left in 2007, leaving the building in a state of despair with the need for a new roof, new floors, new heating system, improved insulation and other internal repairs, plus redecoration.
The District Council is currently working up the specifications and requirements for a renovation programme that could bring the disused building back into use for the benefit of the local community and visitors to Skegness.
Property Service Manager at the District Council, Gary Sargeant, explained: “We have been speaking to people who have shown an interest in taking on the Inn on the Park but their feedback to us has been that unless we upgrade the building they won’t be interested and we’re exploring in detail the possibility of investment.”
The final decision as to whether to fund the renovation will be taken once a fully costed programme of works is completed.
