EAST Lindsey District Council has agreed a new Corporate Strategy which sets out the vision of the Council in addressing community priorities into the future.

The document, which will shortly be followed by a detailed Delivery Plan, sets out a vision that delivers a district with healthy, prosperous, vibrant people and place.

Leader of the District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, explained: “We’ve done a lot of good work to improve the quality of life in East Lindsey over the past five years and I’m delighted the Council has now agreed a vision for the future.”

The Strategy focuses on three key areas:

  • Enabling and supporting people - enabling people to be involved in their communities and improving equality and life chances.
  • Shaping places – adapting to climate change and developing and nurturing the character of our towns, villages and rural areas.
  • Building prosperity – creating new business sectors by growing the economy and building on our strengths.

Councillor Stephenson, continued: “We are an ambitious organisation and we’re ambitious for the people we serve. Although we know our finances are going to be extremely tight in the future we will continue to focus on the priorities identified by local people in our new Strategy and work hard to deliver them.”

As well as strategic priorities, the Strategy gives a series of commitments the Council will work towards achieving.

Chief Executive, Nigel Howells, said: “Councillors have adopted an ambitious plan that will help make East Lindsey an even better place to live, work and visit. In times of financial hardship for local people and this Council, we need to ensure we’re focusing our attention on key areas of community support, whilst ensuring our district continues to grow and develop and creates new opportunities for our communities.”

The Corporate Strategy document will shortly be available in all Council Customer Service Centres and online at http://www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/
