RWE NPower Renewables has announced that it is reconsidering its substation proposal for East Lindsey following new information it has received from National Grid. East Lindsey District Council has responded to this announcement.
EAST Lindsey District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning, Councillor Neil Cooper said: “I’m very pleased that all of the hard work, which has taken place in partnership with the community groups and the District Council, has made RWE Npower renewable reconsider their decision to promote the substation.
“Clearly, this is an interim position and we remain concerned that this matter may raise its head again, particularly at a time when National Grid is still considering a potential new power line through the District.
RWE npower renewables is developing Triton Knoll Offshore Wind Farm in the North Sea 33km from the Lincolnshire coast. An onshore electrical substation will be required to connect the wind farm to the national electricity network.
“Until RWE Npower renewables releases the information regarding the connection to the Grid for the Triton Knoll Wind Farm we have to remain prepared and vigilant.”
