East Lindsey is ‘open’ for regeneration and investment; that was one of the key messages to Planning Agents who attended a recent Planning Forum at East Lindsey District Council.

The regular meetings provide an opportunity for the District Council to better understand the needs of developers looking to invest in the area. It is also a chance for Agents to be updated on changes to planning rules and the Council’s planning service.

Portfolio Holder for Planning, Councillor Neil Cooper, said: “In these difficult financial times it is so important to promote and support economic development. Through the planning process we can help to shape our district and ultimately create much need jobs in both the construction and service industries. We want to receive proposals from developers and their Agents.”

Business Manager for Planning, David Loveday, said: “The forum gives everyone the opportunity to tell us what we are getting right and areas where we need to improve.

“It was set up as a direct response to requests from Agents for planning officers to be more accessible, a dedicated Planning reception with direct telephone lines will be opened shortly at Manby too.”

At the meeting, Agents were also informed of changes to be introduced to the Council’s online planning system to make it more responsive to their business needs. The improved system will provide automated updates regarding the progress of planning applications not only to our customers but to Councillors. It will also be easier for the wider community to comment on applications in their area.
