EAST Lindsey District Council and Lincolnshire County Council have contracted South Lincs Community and Voluntary Service to provide support to community and voluntary sector organisations until March 31, 2011.

Since Voluntary Action East Lindsey (VAEL) ceased to trade in September, both Councils have been keen to implement an interim arrangement to ensure the Voluntary Sector in East Lindsey can continue to access the advice and training it needs to grow and develop.

Portfolio Holder for Rural Services and Partnerships, Councillor Edward Mossop, welcomed the decision: “It is important we provide voluntary organisations, including community groups, with the support and training they need to achieve their aspirations. I am pleased South Lincs Community and Voluntary Service has agreed to provide support in East Lindsey whilst we look at the longer term needs of the voluntary sector in our District.”

Of the South Lincs CVS appointment to work in East Lindsey, Chief Executive Officer, Ladey Adey, said the organisation is delighted: “We’ve been given a place of trust to support third sector organisations throughout East Lindsey. These are exciting albeit challenging times and I know that the high calibre of all our staff will mean that we will continue to deliver the best Community and Voluntary Service to existing areas of Boston, South Holland and South Kesteven, as well as bringing our expertise and enthusiasm to East Lindsey. We look forward to meeting groups and organisations which make up the community, voluntary and charitable sectors in East Lindsey. “

The County Council’s Executive Councillor for Economic Development. Councillor Eddy Poll, explained: “A broad range of organisations in East Lindsey’s voluntary and community sector carry out many activities and roles of great social value. The voluntary service should therefore be applauded for providing this solution and the County Council is pleased to have played its part in seeing this in place to the end of the financial year. South Lincs CVS will enable this vital support to remain available to all.”
