YOUNG people in East Lindsey are being asked for their views on the service provided by the Funk Bus.

The brightly coloured bus first took to the road in East Lindsey in 2008 to deliver play activities to young people in rural and isolated communities.

The Big Lottery Fund initially funded the Funk Bus to operate for three years with £260,000. East Lindsey District Council has just agreed to continue funding the Funk Bus until August 31, 2011.

In bidding for further funding to keep the Bus operational beyond the beginning of September, the District Council is appealing for users of the Bus to provide their views on the service it provides.

The Council is also keen to hear from any organisations that might be interested in sponsoring the Bus.

Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Councillor Adam Grist, explained: “The Funk Bus still continues to bring people together in our communities by providing access to first class play facilities. Although the District Council has confirmed funding over the main school summer holidays, we’re actively looking for sponsorship and other external funding to secure the Bus for the future.

“We face some tough financial times ahead and we’re being innovative in our approach to sourcing funding for local services.”

People who have used the Funk Bus previously are encouraged to submit their views either online at www.e-lindsey.gov.uk or when they visit the Funk Bus. The consultation period will close on Friday, February 11, 2011.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the Funk Bus should contact James Brindle or James Gilbert on 01507 601111.
