Following complaints from people living in The Wong area of Horncastle about lorries and buses using the free car park behind the Black Swan Public House and causing noise disruption when they leave early in the morning, East Lindsey District Council has agreed to close one of the current entrances to prevent access for large vehicles.
County Councillor Bill Aron raised the issue with Horncastle District Councillors after concerns had been brought to his attention.
The Boston Road Car Park behind the Black Swan Public House remains open to use as a free car park but there will now be one entrance available off the The Wong road that leads to the Police Station and Swimming Pool and Fitness Suite. Neither of these entrances are accessible for lorries or buses.
Councillor Aron praised the District Council’s response to the situation.
District Councillor Steve Newton, said the changes would mean less disruption for local people: "The concern was that the lorries and buses were leaving in the early hours of the morning. It isn’t nice for any families living in the area to be woken at this time and I asked that action was taken to resolve the problem quickly for the people being affected. I realise it isn’t ideal reducing the number of entrances but this is a practical solution to the issues that have been raised."
