EAST Lindsey District Council is proud to announce that it has been awarded two separate external acknowledgements for the work it is doing to improve its delivery of services for the local community.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the Audit Commission's publication of the Oneplace assessment that says East Lindsey District Council is 'performing well' and 'making a positive difference to the lives of local people.'
The Government's Improvement and Development Agency visited the Council last week to carry out a formal assessment of the work that has been ongoing to meet the 'Achieving' level of the Local Government Equality Framework The 'Achieving' level means the Council understands the diverse needs of the local community and responds to those needs in the services that it provides. East Lindsey District Council is the second Council in Lincolnshire to achieve this level.
Separate from this, the Council has also been successful in retaining its prestigious Investors in People (IIP) status following a rigorous inspection by an Assessor. The Council demonstrated it is using the IIP framework to help transform the business of the organisation by actively engaging its employees to help drive forward change to improve services. The Council first achieved IIP status in 1997 and has worked hard to maintain this level of external recognition ever since.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, is delighted: 'We are working hard to improve the Council's performance and these two acknowledgements further reinforce that we're continuing to head in the right direction. Our strive for continual improvement will carry on and we will seek to gain a better understanding of the needs of everyone living in our District to ensure our services reflect the diverse needs of our community. Whilst this is another important step forward for us we mustn't rest on our laurels and we will continue to look for ways to provide local people with better value for money and better services.'
