Irresponsible dog owners – Beware!

Since Christmas East Lindsey District Council has been receiving between 10 and 15 complaints each day about dog fouling and Dog Wardens at the Authority are appealing for the community’s help to tackle the problem.

Residents in East Lindsey have no excuses when it comes to disposing of their dogs waste with specific dog litter bins on many streets. Residents can even put their dog waste into normal street bins.

Although the Council’s Dog Wardens and the Police Community Support Officers patrol our streets to try and catch offenders it often proves difficult, which is why the Council needs the community’s help.

If dog owners are caught not clearing up after their dogs they will be issued with a £75 Fixed Penalty Fine.

Portfolio Holder for Street Scene at the Council, Councillor Brian Burnett, who is a dog owner himself, explained: "We know it’s only the minority of dog owners who don’t clear up after their pets and their actions are unacceptable and irresponsible. We are all proud of where we live and we should not have to watch every footstep when we walk down our streets. We need the community to help us to identity those people who don’t clear up after their dogs so we can take action to make our District even cleaner for us all."

The Council is urging people to report incidents of dog fouling to them on 01507 601111 or by e-mail to customer.services@e-lindsey.gov.uk
