THE London Mozart Player’s first visit of 2010 to East Lindsey, starting its ninth year of concerts in the District, features a wind quintet of flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon. The programme includes Rossini, Barber of Seville Overture; Bizert, Jeux d’enfants; Faure, Dolly Suite; and music by Mozart, of course!

The London Mozart Players will visit the following venues:

  • Methodist Church, North Thoresby on Tues 9 March, 7.30pm Tel: 01472 840340
  • Wainfleet Coronation Hall on Weds 10 March, 7.30pm Tel: 01754 880650

Tickets to these performances cost £8 with a special concessionary rate of £3 for under-18s and students

  • Tennyson High School, Mablethorpe on Thurs 11 March, 7.30pm Tel: 01507 473331

Tickets for the Tennyson High School performance are £8 with free to school children.

Usually found skulking behind the strings, the wind players often have a chance to show off their skills in solos during orchestral concerts, but this is an opportunity to hear them on their own. Comprising flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and horn, the quintet will also chat during the concert to introduce themselves and the music.

Portfolio Holder for Leisure at East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Adam Grist, said: “Music is important and the London Mozart Players bring communities together to appreciate and enjoy music of the highest quality. All these evenings promise to be hugely enjoyable, with arrangements of favourites by Rossini, Bizet and Fauré, and some rather fun music featuring drunken sailors in Arnold’s Three Shanties. There is some Mozart in there as well, of course – compulsory for the London Mozart Players!”

This tour focuses on the pupils of Tennyson High School, and the musicians will be working with them over two days in workshops to produce their own pieces and perform them to friends and family before the evening concert on Thursday.
