This week saw the Louth Town Partnership launch the first of its planned tools to enable the people of Louth to take some control over the future of the town.
On September 15th the preview website went live which will ultimately be used to promote Louth to visitors, residents and potential investors. Funded from the Partnership budget for 2010 from East Lindsey District Council, this website will enable all connected with Louth and the local area to send in content to promote their specific aspect and views of Louth.
Mark Barnes, Louth Town Manager, said "As the website developed it became clear there was an opportunity to allow the whole town to become involved and promote Louth in the way that the people of Louth want to promote it. We are asking everyone to take a tour of www.previewlouth.co.uk and get some feeling of what we are trying to achieve and submit information. We feel it is an exciting and rare opportunity for an entire town to have the opportunity to create its own website"
Currently little exists online apart from the structure but the new Louth website will continually evolve with new detail being added all the time and once the website is complete and goes live in it's complete state the community will be encouraged to stay involved by using the forums and uploading information about events. The community will be encouraged to go back to the website daily to check the new content.
Some of the 180 members of the Louth Business Group are already making the most of the site by uploading business information that will be used in a local business directory at no cost to the group members. Businesses will be categorised and a search facility made available to enable visitors to the site to source a local business. All Business Group members will also be able to login and securely network with other businesses between meetings.
Mr Barnes said "The Partnership hopes that in addition to being a tool to promote Louth it will also be a tool to bring the town together"
