OVER the next three weeks every home in East Lindsey will receive an annual Household Registration Form, also known as a Canvass Form, which must be responded to.
As well as being able to fill the form in and post it back, East Lindsey District Council is promoting the use of Internet, SMS and a 24/7 Freephone Service to give additional options of confirming details.
Details of how to use each of these services will be on the Household Registration Form when it arrives.
Electoral Registration Officer, Nigel Howells, explained: “The Government requires updated details to be given by law and every household must respond to this form. British, Commonwealth Irish and European Union citizens need to be on the Electoral Register so they can vote in forthcoming elections.
“Credit Reference Agencies also use the Electoral Register when checking residency and if your name is not included you may experience difficulties opening a bank account or obtaining credit. “
Any Household not receiving a registration form by September 2, 2011 should make contact with East Lindsey District Council on 01507 601111.
