People living in East Lindsey are being reminded that they should only give their excess household waste to a Registered Waste Carrier to be disposed of.

East Lindsey District Council is concerned that some unscrupulous individuals are pretending to be Registered Waste Carriers to collect waste from homes for a fee and then unlawfully dumping the waste they collect.

Enforcement Officer, Kristina Gains, explains: “If you give your waste to an unlicensed waste carrier and its then unlawfully dumped you remain responsible for it in law and you are likely to be prosecuted for not ensuring it is disposed of responsibly. We all need to be extra vigilant and ensure we ask to see proof that the people offering to take the waste are properly licensed.” Registered waste carriers have a special licence from the Environment Agency and will be able to produce this when asked.
