Louth X Sports Group has been discussing how it can progress its ambition for an outdoor Skatepark in Louth.
Representatives from the Group recently met with East Lindsey District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Councillor Adam Grist, and Sports Development and Facilities Teams to look at what equipment the group envisaged the Skatepark would include and what funding would be needed.
From the meeting, the District Council is looking at funding opportunities on a regional and national level. A specialist Skatepark company has also been instructed to work up a series of proposals for the Group based on their vision of what the outdoor Skatepark should include.
In the coming weeks an initial site appraisal will take place in Louth to try find the most suitable location, considering impact on local people, safety and access issues.
"We know Louth needs an outdoor Skatepark," said Yvonne Andrews, from Louth X Sports Group. "We also know that if we don’t all work together this might never happen. There is still a long way to go but there is mutual agreement that an outdoor Skatepark would benefit Louth."
Councillor Adam Grist, said he would be actively supporting the project and renewed appeals for a single voice in Louth’s Skatepark community: "This is about the Council and community working together, using the expertise of the skaters and the funding knowledge of the District Council to try and make this happen. If we all work together there is far stronger possibility that Louth X Sports Group’s ambition for an outdoor Skatepark will be successful."
