A public Toilet is open for people in Ingoldmells to use at Joe’s Beach Bar for free, as part of a lease agreement between East Lindsey District Council and the owner.
The agreement to provide the community facility was made when the District Council surrendered its lease on the former toilets at Ingoldmells Point in 2008 to allow a new development to proceed. Now the development is complete the Council is working with the owner to improve signage for the Public Toilet inside the popular seafront venue.
Last week East Lindsey District Council announced its decision to offer a number of Public Toilets to Parish Councils and other third part organisations as part of a review of all the services it provides. The review, which is continually ongoing, has to identify up to £8m of saving for the District Council from a revenue budget of £22m per year.
Strategic Director, Stuart Davy, said: "This is an excellent example of how we can work with others to provide community facilities at no cost to the Taxpayer. We need to be looking for more opportunities like this. As with most Councils across the Country we have to make substantial savings due to a large dip in the interest we’re receiving on investments and also a reduced level of Government funding. We have some tough decisions to take now and in the months and years ahead. By working with local organisations and business, such as Joe’s Beach Bar, we will provide the highest and best quality toilet provision we can."
The District Council will continue to directly maintain one Public Toilet in Ingoldmells and this will be decided following a discussion with Ingoldmells Parish Council. The Parish Council also operates a Public Toilet near their offices.
