A Volunteering Programme launched in East Lindsey has been nationally recognised by the 2012 Olympic Committee

Inspire Mark features a mix of projects from communities across the UK that have been developed as a direct response to London hosting the 2012 Olympic Games.

Sports Force was launched by East Lindsey District Council in partnership with a number of countywide partners to increase the number of volunteering opportunities in the District and to create an Olympic legacy for the area post 2012. It enables clubs to register their events on the Sports Force database and the Council can then search for volunteers to support a particular event or programme. Sports Force also enables volunteers with a particular interest to be matched with a specific type of event they have a particular interest in.

The national accreditation means that the Sports Force Project will be linked close to the Olympics and contain the official Inspire branding in all promotional material.

Lincolnshire’s 2012 Champion and Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, explained: “The 2012 Olympics present Lincolnshire with opportunities to create a legacy and encourage more people to improve their lifestyles through sports and leisure.”
