BAIN Valley Park is now just one week from officially opening to the community and young people are being reminded to bring their favourite Teddy Bear for a special Teddy Bears’ picnic.
On July 3, 2010, East Lindsey District Council, with support from Horncastle Town Council, will provide traditional fun games and welcome friends and families to the newly developed parkland between 10am and 1pm for a great free day out.
Bain Valley Park, the former derelict landfill site on Hemingby Lane has undergone an £850,000 makeover into a thriving community space boasting landscaped gardens, grassed areas for picnics, benches and disabled car parking. There are also interpretation boards explaining the history of this piece of land. The money for the project was given to the District Council by the East Midlands Development Agency specifically to transform this site.
As well as free activities for the whole family to enjoy at the opening celebration, the Mayor of Horncastle, Councillor Sandra Campbell-Wardman, will choose her favourite Teddy Bear and the lucky owner will win a family ticket to see Theo the Mouse's Musical Madhouse on either Monday, August 16 at 2pm or Sunday, August 29 at 2pm at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness.
The programme of activities will be as follows:
- 10am-11am – Multi Skills Activities, Traditional Playground Games and Circus Skills
- 11am-12noon – Multi Skills Activities, Circus Skills, Natural Play and Drumming Workshop
- 12noon – 1pm – Natural Play, Traditional family games and Drumming workshop
