Be financially happy with a real nappy!
Parents with babies are being encouraged to use real nappies and save up to £300 (from birth to potty – 2.5 years).
As Real Nappy Week 2010 prepares to kick off on April 26, people across the UK are being reminded that they are sending around 2.8billion disposable nappies to landfill each year.
Because Real Nappies are reusable, many babies will only require around 30 during their childhood, compared to around 3,800 disposable nappies.
“This is a huge figure and we need to reduce it, aside from the huge impact on our environment, it’s apparent that disposable nappies make a huge dent in the pockets of families” said East Lindsey District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Recycling, Councillor Brian Burnett, as his Council prepares to promote Real Nappy Week.
“Although we encourage people not to use disposable nappies, families should be aware that if they do they must be placed into the black domestic waste bin as they cannot be recycled,” Councillor Burnett explained.
East Lindsey District Council is supporting the Real Nappy campaign and will be offering advice and guidance to families on the use of Real Nappies at a series of Roadshow events taking place across East Lindsey during Real Nappy Week.
The roadshow will be in the following locations:
- Alford Market on April 27
- Horncastle Market on May 1
- Louth Market on April 30
- Mablethorpe Market on April 29
- Spilsby Market on April 26, 2010
- Skegness (outside the Hildreds Centre) on April 28
